Excitement is the best description for the Williamsons! They have solidified themselves as one of the most popular groups in Southern Gospel Music, winning numerous awards and garnering numerous hit songs. The Williamson Family began singing together as a group in 1969 with Woody and Pinky Williamson and their children Donnie and Tennie. They held concerts and revival meetings in Oklahoma and the surrounding states. The group was reorganized in 1998 as The Homesteaders Quartet. This group officially changed their name to The Williamsons in 2008. Members of the Williamsons today include Donnie Williamson and his wife Lisa, their children Sadie and Olivia Williamson, Darin Hebert and Bo Chesser (Lisa's brother).
The group’s mission statement is more than just a statement. It is the heartfelt desire of every member of The Williamsons. It simply says, “The Williamsons will share the Gospel through music in order to see the lost come to Christ, the Christian uplifted, and provide quality Christian entertainment all for the glory of God.” It’s easy to say that your goal is to reach people for Christ, but it’s much harder to do. The Williamsons have such a heart for evangelism that they have made mission trips to the Philippines, Nicaragua, and Kenya and have seen over 25,000 lives changed. They also travel across the United States and around the world sharing their unique style of Christian music in large concert halls, on cruise liners, and in churches of all sizes and denominations. They proudly support The Gospel Station, its World Mission Team, and its other related ministries. In a recent interview regarding the Williamsons, Les Butler commented, "As their manager, producer and record label owner, I couldn't be any prouder of the Williamsons. Although I'm proud that they keep adding awards to their resume, I am prouder of the fact that their goal is to add more souls to the kingdom. They have been successful in both areas."
The Williamsons have produced more than a dozen recordings with much of their material written by Lisa and Donnie. Several of their songs have reached the Singing News top 40, the prevailing chart for Southern Gospel Radio. In December 2015, the group achieved their first #1 song, “Shout,” and received their second #1 song in March 2019 for, “Every Moment, Every Mountain, Every Mile,” from their latest project. This new project, “Give Them Jesus,” has already had 4-Top 20’s, 2- Top 5’s and a #1 Song. This stellar album showcases music from Nashville’s “A-List” names, including Jason Webb, Kelly Back, Mark Fain, Jason Roller, Scotty Sanders, Michael Rojas, Tom Hemby, Kevin Grantt, Rob Tripp and Matt Butler and special, top-tier guest artists. An all-star list of Southern Gospel artists including Jim Brady, Jeff & Sheri Easter, Ronny Hinson, Gerald Crabb, Duane Allen, Sherman Andrus, Sue Dodge, Jaquita Lindsey, the Dunaways, Jason Davidson, and the Old Time Preachers Quartet join the Williamsons on this album that is sure to continue topping the charts!
This phenomenal family group has appeared on the cover of the Singing News Magazine and have been featured in SGN Scoops Magazine. They have had many Featured Artists segments, on the Gospel Greats, by Paul Heil and Featured Artist segments on Sirius XM Enlighten radio and their music is regularly played on southern gospel radio stations around the world. In 2019, they had the honor of performing on the main stage of the National Quartet Convention.
Over the past few years, The Williamsons have won several awards. In 2016, their song “Shout” won the award for Traditional Song of the Year at the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards. In addition, they have won five Diamond Awards. In 2016, they received a Diamond Award for Song of the Year for “Shout” and Album of the Year for their recording “Tell Somebody.” They have won the Diamond Award for Mixed Group of the Year for three consecutive years!
