In April of 2026, my family and I were able to travel with Compassion International to Ecuador to see how they are helping the people there. I was vaguely familiar with how Compassion worked, as we had been working with them for a few months at that point, but on this trip we got to see just exactly how amazing this organization is. Each day of the trip, we visited a church in the area and met the leaders there, as well as the sweet children and parents. We got to see where the kids go to school, where they eat, where they play, and where they learn about Jesus. The pastors and teachers we met treat all of these things with so much care and love. Every single person we met was fully dedicated to what they were doing. I wish you could see the incredibly detailed records they kept- it blew my mind! We were also able to go to a family's home each day to visit with them and serve them lunch. Seeing some of these homes just broke my heart. The country of Ecuador is probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen, which made the living situations even more jarring.
The coolest part of the trip was getting to meet my family's sponsored child, Jaden (that's us with him in the photo!). We so enjoyed getting to know him, his mother, grandmother, and sweet baby brother Aidan. Jaden is so much fun- he was basically non-stop energy! It meant so much getting to meet the family we can usually only write letters to, and hearing how our sponsorship is impacting their lives.
